30th NDVaK Explores Advances in Surface and Plastics Technology

On October 7 and 8, the 30th Neues Dresdner Vakuumtechnisches Kolloquium (NDVaK) brought together researchers and industry representatives at the IPF to discuss current developments in the coating, modification, and characterization of polymer surfaces.
Under the theme “Zukunft gestalten” (Shaping the Future), the colloquium addressed the opportunities and challenges facing surface and plastics technology in a globally competitive environment, with sustainability and resource efficiency among the key topics.
The scientific presentations covered four main thematic areas:
- Raw materials: renewable resources and plastics recycling
- Alternative materials and processes: bio-based plastics, functional coatings, and innovative joining technologies
- Circular processes: digital product passports, carbon footprints, and energy efficiency in coating processes
- Electronics: coated plastics for radar applications and electrochromic surfaces
The program also featured a retrospective on the NDVaK, which was first held in 1993.
