On September 1, Dr. Manuel Häußler joined the IPF, where he leads the new research group “Circular Chemical Concepts of Polymers.” He previously headed a research group at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (MPI-KG) and the Center for the Transformation of Chemistry (CTC).

At the IPF, Häußler and his team are working to develop a new generation of plastics based on locally available raw materials that are fully recyclable and environmentally benign. Using a data-driven approach, the group focuses on bio-based circular building blocks for plastics and beyond, as well as on recycling-on-demand concepts.

His expertise complements the IPF’s existing research on resource-efficient and functional polymer systems. At the same time, his work contributes to the shared goal of the IPF and the CTC: supporting the industry in its transformation toward a circular economy.
