Abstract
|
PMSE 130 - Electroactive and Photoresponsive Metal-Containing Polymers

Recently we reported on the method to grow continuous highly conductive polypyrrole (Ppy) nanowires (NWs) by polymerization of pyrrole from individual adsorbed polystyrene sulfonic acid (PSA) molecules. Electrical characterization was done at the level of individual NWs in a dry state and conductance was unambiguously proved by breaking experiments. To use the Ppy NWs as active elements of chemical and biological sensors it is essentially to investigate the electrical transport in aqueous solutions. The following two issues were in the focus of this work: i) robustness of NWs upon measurement in water; ii) comparison of the electrical transport through the NWs with the background ionic conductivity of the solutions.
