Clusters of Excellence CARE and REC² at the Dresden Mayor’s Summer Reception
At the summer reception hosted by Dresden’s Mayor Dirk Hilbert on August 21, IPF researchers presented selected developments from the Clusters of Excellence CARE – Climate-Neutral and Resource-Efficient Construction and REC² – Responsible Electronics in the Climate Change Era. The event brought together guests from business, politics, public administration, civil society, and science, and featured presentations and demonstrations from research projects and initiatives.
As part of CARE, Christina Scheffler and Axel Spickenheuer showcased materials and demonstrators from the IPF’s fiber-composite research – from textile reinforcement structures and Tailored Fiber Placement components to lightweight structures and fiber-based samples.
At the REC² presentation, Lisa Bialas and other REC² representatives demonstrated water-soluble electrodes for measuring electrical signals, as well as an ultra-low-power receiver microchip and a solar cell for wireless data transmission. The exhibits highlighted how advanced materials and technologies can contribute to lightweight, resource-efficient construction and more sustainable electronic systems.
