125th Annual Conference of the German Bunsen Society for Physical Chemistry Organized with Contributions from TUD, IPF, and IOM

From March 30 to April 1, 2026, the 125th Annual Conference of the German Bunsen Society for Physical Chemistry was held at the Dresden University of Technology (TUD). Under the title Properties & Processes under Confinement, the Bunsen-Tagung 2026 brought together around 400 researchers from across the field of physical chemistry.

The scientific program featured expert lectures, panel discussions, and poster presentations covering key topics such as spectroscopy, surfaces and interfaces, two-dimensional materials, reaction kinetics, catalysis, energy storage, biophysical chemistry and biophotonics, and electrochemistry. In addition to the scientific sessions, the conference included networking formats such as a career forum and a world café with industry representatives.

The Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF) contributed to both the organization and the scientific program of the conference. IPF researchers were also recognized with poster awards: Dr. Dmitrii Sychev for The Influence of the Ga-Ions on the Charge Separation Processes for in Operando Quantum Dots-Based Solar Cells and Lukas Mielke for Chromatographic Gas Sensor Stacks: Spatiotemporal VOC Detection for Improved Selectivity.

The conference was chaired by Prof. Dr. Andreas Fery (IPF), Prof. Dr. Inez Weidinger (TUD), and Prof. Dr. Benjamin Dietzek-Ivanšić (Leibniz Institute of Surface Engineering, IOM). The organizers thank all speakers, participants, and supporters for their contributions to the event.
