Building Materials of the Future: Inaugural Lecture by Prof. Christina Scheffler
On April 16, 2026, Prof. Christina Scheffler, who has held the Chair of Polymers in Civil Engineering since 2024, delivered her inaugural lecture to the community of the Dresden University of Technology.
Titled “Beyond Concrete: Fibers and Polymers for Tomorrow’s Buildings”, the lecture focused on innovative materials and sustainable construction concepts that open up new perspectives for the construction of the future.
In her lecture, Prof. Scheffler provided insights into the development of fiber-reinforced composites aimed at efficient material use, high mechanical capabilities, and a longer service life. She also shed light on how recycling concepts can be established in the construction industry.
The lecture was followed by a get-together, offering an opportunity for further discussion and exchange.
