Title Asymmetric flow field flow fractionation of amphilphilic dendriric polymers
Date 13.09.2010
Number 24802
Abstract Amphiphilic polymers can be used as unimolecular nanostructures possessing interesting anti-biofouling abilities, atypical sequestration, or can be used as carrier
for guest molecules for drug release. In the last years the synthesis of core-shell amphiphilic polymers is linked to well-accessible hyperbranched (hb) polymers. They exhibit dense molecular structure and a big number of reactive end functionalities, which could be modified arbitrarily. However, the combination of two effects - the broadly distributed and very complex branched structure together with the amphiphilic character makes their characterization a challenging task. In this work, the characterization of different types of amphiphilic dendritic structures by Asymmetric Flow Field Flow Fractionation (A4F) is performed. Hyperbranched and dendronized polyethyleneimines with oligosachharide shell exhibiting pH-sensitive phase-transfer
behavior for triggering encapsulation and release of guest molecules were characterized. A4F, static and dynamic light scattering were applied for molar mass determination, analysis of aggregation behaviour and quantitative determination of dye-polymer complexation. POLY 478
