Title Polymer adsorption onto patterned substrates: Where polymer physics meets scattering theory
Date 12.11.2009
Number 19862
Abstract By making use of the methods of scattering theory, we investigated the adsorption of polymers onto the surface that bears a periodic array of the adsorbing centers. We found exact conditions when there exist the 'surface states' that provide strong adsorption of polymers onto the substrate. The results are presented in the form of the adsorption-desorption diagrams that describe the interplay between the entropic repulsion of polymers from the hard surface of the substrate and their attraction to the adsorbing centers. In addition, we investigated the effect of the substitutional disorder in the arrangement of the adsorbing centers on the overall adsorption ability of the patterned substrate.

PMSE 550 - The 238th ACS National Meeting, Washington, DC, August 16-20, 2009
