Obituary: Hans-Joachim Radusch

Polymer scientist and plastics engineer Hans-Joachim Radusch passed away on March 26, 2026, at the age of 82. Throughout his distinguished academic career, he made lasting contributions to polymer materials science, particularly through his work on structure–property relationships. His research on heterogeneous polymer systems advanced the development of modern polymer materials such as dynamic vulcanizates and polymer nanocomposites, earning him both national and international recognition.

From 1994 to 2014, Radusch held the Chair of Polymer Technology at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, where he also served as Director of the Institute of Materials Science. He co-founded two affiliated research and transfer institutes in Merseburg aimed at strengthening ties with the polymer-producing and polymer-processing industry. Over the years, Radusch also maintained close collaborations with researchers at the IPF, especially in the fields of elastomers and polymer composite materials.

A detailed obituary is available in the online magazine of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.
