Professor Alexander O. Govorov Appointed IPF Fellow
On September 1, 2026, Professor Alexander O. Govorov, Distinguished Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at Ohio University, USA, was appointed an IPF Fellow.
Govorov specializes in semiconductor physics and theoretical condensed-matter physics. He has been collaborating closely with IPF researchers for several years on the theoretical analysis of plasmon-coupled circular dichroism and related calculations. His work focuses in particular on developing and applying theoretical models of optical chirality and chiroptical responses to deepen the understanding of chirality-driven light–matter interactions.
The collaboration has already led to a publication in Nature Materials, which investigates how protein molecules induce and control chirality in plasmonic nanoparticle assemblies. Further joint publications and conference activities are planned to expand the scientific exchange between Ohio University and the IPF.
The IPF Fellowship provides a framework for strengthening scientific collaboration with internationally recognized scientists in strategically important research fields. Fellows are appointed for two years, with the possibility of two reappointments.
