Mikhail Tsurkan PhD is the leader of the spin-off project TissueGUARD. The project TissueGUARD is part of the EXIST program and is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the European Social Fund (ESF) as well as the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF) Germany.
Fields of work
The research is focused on the development of new Biofunctional Materials for the needs of regenerative therapies and stem cell research which includes:
- Design and synthesis of peptide and carbohydrate conjugates for biomedical and biomaterial applications
- Incorporation of biological active molecules into hydrogel materials through rational synthesis
- Photochemical and photophysical developments for biofunctional materials applications
- Development of bioanalytical methods for natural compounds and biopolymers characterization
