Abstract
|
Natural fibers may represent an economical and sustainable alternative to produce sandwich panels. This study investigates the influence of the slenderness ratio on the buckling load of sandwich panels with jute, glass, and hybrid faces and a polyethylene terephthalate foam core. Failure and damage of the panel face with natural fibers are studied, also evaluating the suitability of failure criteria, especially considering the limited literature on that. Numerical analyses of the panels were performed using implicit and dynamic explicit solvers with Hashin’s failure criteria. The hybrid faces showed a higher buckling load, being the most suitable option.
