Abstract
|
The developments of microfluidics and hydrogels are strongly linked to one another. Small micrometer-sized hydrogels, so-called hydrogel-dots, can be placed into the microfluidic channel to fulfil a variety of different purposes. Handling chemical reactions or governing the flow as a valve would be two of the most prominent applications of hydrogel-dots in microfluidic channels. In this article, we will cover which requirements the microfluidic device needs to meet and how hydrogels can be applied for each of the named purposes.
