Abstract
|
We present our recent results on single molecule experiments with polyelectrolyte molecules of different architecture: linear chains, amphiphilic tri-block copolymers, star like amphiphilic polyelectrolytes. We follow the conformational alternations and coil-globule transitions upon change of pH and ionic strength in solution. We discuss the experiments demonstrating both the short range hydrophobic interaction and the ion condensation mechanisms of coil-to-globule transitions of single polyelectrolyte molecules.<br /><br />Polyelectrolytes and Polyampholytes: From Theory to Application<br />The 228th ACS National Meeting, in Philadelphia, PA, August 22-26, 2004
