„Optical fiber specklegram sensors“
Optical fiber speckles are granular patterns produced by the interference of several guided modes in a multimode waveguide. Despite their apparent random nature, speckle fields carry precise information about the fiber state, motivating applications in data transmission, imaging, and sensing. This presentation discusses fiber specklegram sensors for mechanical, thermal, electromagnetic, and chemical analyses. While tailoring the waveguide material and structure ensures sensitive measurements, a straightforward interrogation system based on visible laser and image processing yields multi-parameter, quasi-distributed response with a single-channel approach. Examples in strain sensing and human-robot interaction also highlight the challenges and perspectives for this emerging sensing technique.
