IPF Featured in BMFTR Booklet on Innovative Materials Research for Future Medicine

The IPF is featured in the booklet Innovative Materials Research for Future Medicine published by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).

The publication showcases the IPF’s interdisciplinary biomaterials research and its translation into medical applications, including:

• anti-inflammatory polymer materials for the treatment of chronic wounds (ResCure)

• bioelectronic hydrogels for improving the functionality and biocompatibility of neuroimplants (ERC project GELECTRO)

• patient-specific 3D tumor models for more targeted drug testing (ERC project CHIPIN)

The booklet also highlights the work of Elisha Krieg and his team, who developed the programmable hydrogel platform “DyNAtrix” as part of the NanoMatFutur project proDNAmat. In the accompanying interview, Dr. Krieg discusses the potential of programmable DNA-based biomaterials to create more realistic cell culture systems, advance mechanobiology and drug screening, and support the translation of research into commercial use.
