IPF Welcomes 800 Visitors to Dresden Science Night 2025

On June 20, the IPF once again opened its doors for the Dresden Science Night, welcoming around 800 visitors. Across 17 main stations, guests had the opportunity to explore laboratories, experience live scientific demonstrations, and participate in hands-on experiments.

The program covered a wide range of research topics: visitors examined plant and human skin cells using paper microscopes, observed 3D-printed robotic arms responding to human bio-signals, and witnessed molten glass being processed into high-performance fibers. They could also explore textile innovations through 3D and 4D body scans linked to virtual avatars, and engage with a station featuring live snails to learn about surface structures and thin-film materials.

Other displays showcased the history of biomaterials, pioneering research on blood stem cells, conductive hydrogels used in regenerative therapies, and the IPF-designed polymer coating that aids in the healing of chronic wounds.

Beyond the scientific presentations, a beer garden, food offerings, and live music contributed to a welcoming atmosphere that combined science with community engagement. The IPF thanks all contributors for their efforts in making this year’s Dresden Science Night a success.
