Title Layered double hydroxides (LDH) - ein umweltfreundlicher nanoskaliger Flammhemmer
Date 04.07.2008
Number 15269
Abstract (EN)
The potentials of polymer-clay nanocomposites cause a variety of research works
and developments in the field of thermoplastics including polyolefine based nanocomposites. The improvements of mechanical properties in connection with flameretardant properties seem to be hopeful fields for polyolefin-clay nanocomposites. It is shown, that the use of layered double hydroxide nanoparticles as synergistic flame retardant for classical microscale metal hydroxides can drastically reduce the overall loading and so improve the mechanical properties of the composites. The state of the development is described including processing of the composites, flammability tests (Cone Calorimeter, LOI, UL 94) and SEM/TEM images.
