Self organisation of small oligopeptide molecules

Small and chemically very basic units such as the Fmoc-diphenylalanine show an amazing variability to organize into supramolecular structures. The basic building block of these are fibrils which can turn into nano- mesoscopic fibrilar meshes of different poresizes and able to trap other colloidal objects by physical integration. The complex process of self assembly is controlled by microcontrol of pH conditions triggering the assembly.
