The Lush Prize is awarded to projects, organisations, institutions or individuals focussed on ending the use of animal testing or for research into non-animal tests, or promoting the use of non-animal tests.
The Young Researchers Prize in particular, offers PhD students and postdoctoral researchers specialising in alternative research, a bursary to help fund their future projects.
Laura has been honored for her proposed project which aims to provide three key developments to animal replacement in cancer research and patients:
• a toolbox for medical researchers to study cancer in vitro to identify new targets for therapeutic applications,
• a method for high throughput drug screening to accelerate clinical trials, and
• a model system to test patient samples, for the purpose of individualising their treatment program
