Title Multifunctional polymers for micro and nano patterned thin films
Date 25.02.2010
Number 21723
Abstract We report on multifunctional and nanostructured polymers specially suited for the preparation of micro, nano and hybrid patterned thin films. Selective metal deposition on a polymer surface was achieved using photolabile polymers consisting of diazosulfonate side chain groups and anchor groups. Furthermore, films were prepared of photolabile protected low molar mass and polymeric amines on glass and silicon substrates. These films are suitable for imagewise structuring by UV-light and laser irradiation and nanoelements like DNA strands could be attached individually in further steps. Various functional block copolymers were prepared by controlled radical polymerization. Highly ordered nanostructures could be realized in thin films of these polymers. Again, functionalities which on the one hand allow surface anchorage, and on the other hand are suitable for patterning with functionalities e.g. by light, are introduced in those block copolymers which offers the chance to combine the bottom-up approach through phase separation with typical top-down lithographic patterning.
