Title One pot approach for the establishment of dendritic polymers with various oligosaccharide architectures
Date 12.08.2008
Number 16079
Abstract The 236th ACS National Meeting, Philadelphia, PA, August 17-21, 2008

The application of the aqueous reductive amination of primary and secondary amino group containing dendritic polyamines, using commercially available poly(propylene imine) dendrimers up to 5th generation and hyperbranched poly(ethylene imine)s (PEI), in the presence of excess oligosaccharides resulted in the preferably desired disubstitution of the converted primary amino groups possessing twice the amount of oligosaccharides. In the case of the hyperbranched PEI a preferred monosubstitution of the primary amino groups was also received by controlling the reaction conditions. With this synthetic tool, different oligosaccharide architectures on dendritic surfaces are possible to address specific demands for future investigations of oligosaccharide-shelled dendritic polyamines as carrier systems and biocompatible surfaces or to govern/manipulate biological processes.

POLY 26 - Carbohydrate-Polymer Hybrids: Biomaterials and Therapeutics
