Abstract This chapter examines the historical development and recent innovations in hydrogel technology for in vitro vasculogenesis models. It explores their incorporation into high-throughput culture formats and vasculogenesis-compatible platforms, emphasizing their utility in screening angiogenesis inhibitors, especially in retinal disease research. This chapter confronts the challenges and constraints of existing high-throughput screening models and discusses strategies to enhance their efficiency and reliability, thereby propelling progress in drug discovery and disease modeling.
