PhD studentChristin Striegler
Christin Striegler is a PhD student in the department "Bioactive and responsive Polymers" working under guidance of Dr. Dietmar Appelhans and Prof. Dr. Brigitte Voit. The work is embedded within the framework of Sonderforschungsbereich Transregio 79 (Werkstoffe für die Geweberegeneration am systemisch erkrankten Knochen). Her project concerns the synthesis and characterization of drug delivery systems for encapsulation and controlled release of drugs for the establishment in hydroxylapatite phases. The project is a cooperation of different universities, institutes and clinics of Gießen, Heidelberg and Dresden.
Fields of Activity
- Synthesis of core (double-)shell architectures based on poly(ethylene imine) as core polymer and different poly(amino acids), alkanoic acids and oligosaccharides as shell molecules
- Characterisation methods: NMR and FTIR spectroscopy, elementary analysis, DLS, zeta potential, pH dependent potentiometric titration, SEC, in situ AFM, (cryo-)TEM
- Investigations of encapsulation and release by ultrafiltration / UV/Vis spectroscopy and asymmetric flow FFF
