Biomimetic Surfaces and Matrices
Biomimetic materials using structures and functions of living matter define a key challenge for material research and play an increasingly important role in various innovative technologies. Biomaterials research at the IPF is performed within the Max Bergmann Centre of Biomaterials (MBC), a joint interdisciplinary initiative, co-founded in 2002 with the Institute of Materials Science of Technische Universität Dresden.
- charging and structure formation at bio-interfaces: to analyze and control ionic charge, supramolecular structure and bioadhesion
- hemocompatible interfaces: to explore blood-materials interactions and develop new strategies for anticoagulant coatings
- matrix engineering: to design and apply polymer matrices for regenerative therapies.
