Curriculum Vitae

Fields of Work

  • Mechanical characterization of polymers, composites, textiles, fibers and related materials as well as plastics for practical applications
  • Structure characterisation during deformation and fracture
  • Fracture-mechanical characterization of polymer materials
  • Thermomechanical and dynamic mechanical characterization of polymers
  • Mechanical characterization in micro- and sub-micro-range

Methods of Investigation

Mechanical Material Characterization

  • Universal testing machines (ranges10 N to 100 kN, -50 to 250 °C, different long-distance extensometers, online-video-monitoring)
  • Servohydraulic testing machine 810 [MTS] (up to 50 kN, -130 to 315 °C, different extensometers)
  • Optical 2D and 3D-deformation analysis [ARAMIS, GOM]
  • Impact bending testing (Charpy, Izod; also cold) and tensile 1 - 15 J, HDT/Vicat, ball-indendation- und Shore-A-hardness
  • Nanoidentation [G200, KLA]

Micro-Mechanical Characterization

  • Self-made tensile and bending equipment for the use under the microscope as well as in a synchrotron (different force ranges, max. 1 kN)
  • Scanning Online-Xray-Scattering during deformation and fracture of polymers
