Abstract

POLY 574 - Emerging Frontiers in Polyolefins

The microstructure of poly(propylene-g-styrene) (PP-g-PS) graft copolymers obtained by metallocene catalyzed copolymerization of propylene and allyl-terminated polystyrene (PS-allyl) macromonomers prepared by quasiling ATRP can be controlled by the variation of reaction conditions. This semi-combinatorial approach has provided a library of data on the relation between the structure of PP-g-PS graft copolymers versus reaction conditions. These new findings offer the opportunity to prepare well-defined PP-g-PS graft copolymers with designed structural parameters and may provide the possibility to carry out further studies on the correlation between the microstructure and macroscopic properties of these graft copolymers.
