Abstract We present the first account on the preparation of poly(2-oxazoline)-based bottle-brush brushes (BBBs) by means of surface-initiated polymerization (SIP) on silanized silicondioxide substrates. The control of protein adsorption (fibronectin) and subsequent control in cell adhesion (human endothelial cells, HUVEC) as a function of POx side chain composition, length and end function is analyzed in detail.
