Title Self-assembly of anionic core-shell architectures into ph-stable particles with defined dimensions as potential carrier systems
Date 18.03.2011
Number 25762
Abstract We demonstrate the formation and characterization of pH- and buffer-stable anionic particles as potential carrier systems. The formation of those particles is provided by the self-assembly of anionic dendritic core-shell architectures which consist of hyperbranched poly(ethyleneimine) (PEI) as core and oligomeric/polymeric glutamate chains, attached on the PEI surface, as anionic shell. The self-assembly study by DLS exhibits the formation of very stable particles between 0.4 to 2 µm depending on the pH used during self-assembly.<br />Thus, the self-assembly process of the dendritic core-shell architectures gives us the chance to realize particles with heterogeneous surface composition using different (bio-active) functionalized surfaces of the core-shell architectures for future studies in the (bio-)medical field.
