Abstract
|
Ultrasonic spectroscopy is suitable for monitoring the extrusion process. The sound is scattered by the filler particles, so that the frequency-dependent attenuation spectra of the filler content can be used to study the particle size and the agglomeration. Chemometric methods are used for this. The measurement is particularly accurate when the wavelength of the sound is of the order of magnitude of the particle dimensions.
