Public transport in Dresden

Tickets
Upon registration in the conference office you will get a ticket for public transport that you can use for trams and busses (not suburban trains/S-Bahn) within Dresden from October 4 to 8. The only tickets you would have to buy are those you might need for need suburban trains/S-Bahn for travel from and to airport or the tram/bus ticket you need immediately after arrival to get to your hotel/conference venue.

A ticket for public transport within Dresden costs you EUR 1.80 and can be used for S-Bahn (suburban trains), buses and trams. It is valid for one hour after invalidation. It can be bought at ticket machines: red button number 1 "Einzelfahrt".

From Dresden airport to downtown Dresden/Dresden main railway station (Hauptbahnhof)

Take the S-Bahn S2 which goes directly to Dresden main railway station within 20 minutes. The S-Bahn terminal is in the basement of the airport building. You have to buy a ticket at the ticket machine at the platform. The train leaves every 30 minutes.

From Dresden main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) to the conference venue

Possibility 1
Leave the main station at the exit “Ausgang City-Prager Straße” and cross the tram railways. Go past the ice cream parlor “Ciao” and turn right. Take tram no° 11, direction: “Zschertnitz” and leave at “Zellescher Weg”. Turn right (in direction of travel) and find the conference venue „Andreas-Schubert-Bau“ within a 3 minutes walk.

Possibility 2
Leave the main station at the main exit "Ausgang 1" and take the bus 72, direction: Coschütz/Gitterseeor bus 76, direction: “Mockritz” and leave two stops later at “Technische Universität”. Turn left in the direction of travel and find the conference venue „Andreas-Schubert-Bau“ within a 5 minutes walking distance at your right.

Else you could take the bus 61, direction: “Weißig“, which stops at „Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek“ across the conference venue.

If you arrive by car:
Free parking is possible in the small streets behind the conference venue (as long as there are free spaces).
You can also use the underground car park in the buidling left of Andreas-Schbuert-Bau. (cf. picture) 

From Dresden main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) to your accommodation

Leave the station at exit “Ausgang City-Prager Straße” and cross the tram railway. Go straight on along the shopping boulevard “Prager Straße”. Within 5 minutes walking distance you will see the hotel at your left.

Leave the station at exit “Ausgang City-Prager Straße” and cross the tram railways. Go past the ice cream parlor “Ciao” and turn right. Take tram no° 11, direction: “Zschertnitz” and leave at the fourth station “Strehlener Platz”. The guest house is within a 5 minutes walking distance up the hill.
The tram leaves every 10 minutes and takes approx. 6 minutes to “Strehlener Platz”.

by foot
Leave the station at exit “Ausgang Bayrische Straße” and turn left. After a 10 minutes walk (800 m) you will reach the hotel at your right.
by bus
Leave the station at the main exit. The bus stop is across the road. Take bus 72, direction: Luga or bus 76, direction: “Lockwitz” and leave two stops later at “Uhlandstraße”. Follow the bus’ direction for 300 m until you come to the hotel at your right.

The busses leave every 5 minutes.

Leave the station at exit “Ausgang Bayrische Straße”. Turn left. After a 5 minutes walk you will reach the hotel at your right.
by bus
Leave the station at the main exit "Ausgang 1". The bus stop is opposite the road. Take bus 72, direction: Luga or bus 76, direction: “Lockwitz” and leave two stops later at “Uhlandstraße”. The hostel is situated directly at the bus stop. The busses leave every 5 minutes.
