Norbert Smolka works as a research engineer in the Deptartment Processing Technology, in the group Fiber Formation.

• Melt spinning of thermoplastic and -elastic polymers due to fast, slow, high temperature and biospinning processes as well as spin-stretching processes:
  • various single and twin screw extruders can be combined with mono- and bico spinning
  • small-scale piston spinning systems can be varied for mono- and bico spinning

• Compounding and blending of thermoplastic and -elastic polymer materials as well as production of strands, granules, fibers and filaments
• Carbonization and graphitization of filaments, fibers and test specimens up to 3000 °C
• Offline stretching processes
• Fiber testings (force, elongation, stress-strain)
