Curriculum Vitae

  • 1976-1981 Study of physics at the Technical University Leuna-Merseburg
  • 1981 Diploma in physics thesis: Optimization of the Cross Polarization-NMR with magic angle spinning (in German)
  • 1981-1985 Scientific assistant at the Technical University Leuna-Merseburg, Department Polymer Engineering
  • 1986 PhD in Engineering thesis: Contributions to hemorheology and hemodynamic (in German)
  • 1985- present scientific co-worker at the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden e. V., Department Mechanics and Fibre Formation

Fields of Work

  • rheology of polymers (melts, solids and solutions)
  • modification of the rheological and processing properties of metallocene polyethylenes under critical flow situations by using processing aids
  • melt spinning of modified poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) fibers for Tissue Engineering using biocompatible inclusion complexes as nucleation agents or chemical modifications by means of reactive extrusion

Methods of Investigation

  • rheology of polymer melts, solutions and liquids (Fourier transform rheology) by means of rotational rheometers
  • extensional rheology of polymer melts and solids, trouser tear experiments, T-peel experiments and high-speed cut/crack growth experiments using the SER-HV-A01 universal testing platform
